Michishige Sayumi’s Blog: 2 Year Anniversary

Happy Anniversary!

It was 2 years ago today that Michishige Sayumi, our beloved bunny loving Morning Musume。 cutie started her blog, and with it started the translations which have eventually become the totem pole for Nantonaku as it’s own free standing website. Sayumi started with a simple post welcoming us to her blog with her vision to share with us what goes on with her every day. And now with over 5285 entries in the span of two years, we are coming into Sayumi’s third year blogging!

Congratulations to everyone involved!  The readers of translations, the translators, her fans, her commenters, and Michishige Sayumi herself, congrats of 2 years of fun and fancy!

We’ve seen things come and go as she’s grown from the days of  “My Outfit”s  and early morning Mirror shots. If you followed her blog you’ve seen her interesting timeline from wanting an iPhone to getting an iPhone to abandoning her iPhone and beyond. We look forward to seeing where Sayu will go from here and hope that she can enjoy every minute of it!

In the waves of celebrating 2 years I’d also like to personally thank everyone who has ever translated her blog for the public for all the hard work everyone’s had to endure. Sferris was one of the first do so on Hyakupa, and with him and kaiguy they started off what eventually came into my hands here at Nantonaku. So I’d like to thank them for all there hard work so far as well, we wouldn’t have gotten our own website without them (and a lot of our traffic still comes through the Hyakupa url somehow)! For the fans reading translations, whether they are here or not (if not I don’t know how you are reading this but I hope the sentiment gets through), I hope you are grateful to your translators for all the hard work they’ve invested in getting you translation content. Translation is not “easy” work, especially not for free, and in the communities that thrive on being able to bridge the gap between Japanese and English (or any other language) they are a rare breed in terms of getting consistency and quality for long periods. With that said, have you thanked your translators today? 笑

Now, with all that out of my brain, I hope you’ll keep on coming here for your Sayumi Michishige Blog translations. Whether you think of her as Sayumi Michishige or Michishige Sayumi, she is still the girl we adore and we hope that we can help other people understand what she’s thinking, one post at a time.

The question now is, how do we celebrate?? 笑

  1. I love reading Sayu’s blog, so thank you for the amazing job everyone here does with this great site and the many many translations that you do!

  2. The world would certainly be boring without Sayu’s existence. She’s not just an idol but a wota at heart. Through her blog, we see her undying appreciation for the fans, how she always supports her fellow idols and her continous effort to spread H!P love. Congrats Sayu!

But, we must not forget as well the translator’s hard work for bringing her words to life to foreign fans. Many, many, many thanks and will wait in anticipation for her next adventure.

I will celebrate with a toast, use a beer, tea, coffee, milk or any beverage you prefer. So kanpai, then put your drink down and do the Usa-chan Peace!! V V

  3. LOL I have to admit it seems a bit preachy doesn’t it? What can I say? I do wish they had a translators appreciation day so you can thank anyone who has ever translated stuff from one language to another, especially those people who do things for simulcast and stuff, barely over a day turn over, you know? It’s pretty amazing.

I also wanted to see if anyone wanted to do something to celebrate~

thinking of putting up a banner for a little bit but life makes it hard to find the time =P.

  4. Thanks to Sferris, kaiguy and you, I am a Sayumi hardcore wota. First, I followed her blog only for the pictures she takes of all the other girls. Then I became curious about what she wrote about some pictures and looked for a translation. I found the Hyakupa team and learned how funny, sensible, cute, kind and intelligent the girl was. I gradually fall in love with her. And that is thanks to you guys !
So thank you once again, from the bottom of my heart ! And happy birthday to your work !
