Forewarning: May 2012

NEWS!!
I feel the need to forewarn all the readers about the upcoming event here at Nantonaku Translations.

For about a week from around May 16 – May 22 Invis will be mostly unavailable for translations. As a result the frequency of blog translations around that time may be in question. As it stands we are trying to make arrangements to have a temporary translator of good quality available for timely translations, but in the worst case Nantonaku may be taking a week off.

I realize the importance of the time period which this is happening but it is for that very reason that we are in this situation. We hope readers will understand and stick with us as your reliable Sayu/Gaki blog translation destination.

To Summarize

Best case scenario: For May 16-22 Both Michishige Sayumi and Niigaki Risa’s blog translations will be covered by another translator with near the same quickness as usual.

Worst cast scenario: Michishige Sayumi and Niigaki Risa’s blog translations may take a week off (but will come back with catch up on them).

Thank you for using Nantonaku translations as your translation source, we’ll continue to try our best to help everyone from here on.

Gaki Blog changes!

Quick Announcement for Everyone!

Niigaki Risa’s Blog has now migrated to Ameblo, now titled “Risa!Risa!Risa!” and without an i in her name (Nigaki instead of Niigaki). While the I is probably because someone claimed niigaki for the ameblo account, this means that her blog has once again changed format.

From here on I’ll have a system working out the picture sizes, but it is still being worked out as Gaki does more entries, so if there are any oddities please bear with it for now.

Also note that the animated gif emoji’s Gaki uses may be in and out of use as I’m adapting the system for that as well.

Any feedback on formatting, particularly is you don’t mind the large pictures, if you’d prefer the link to the original entry be associated with part of the real text like they were previously (and if so what part), and if you care or not about the “Theme” portion of the entry is welcome!

Happy New Blog Time!

Michishige Sayumi’s Blog: 2 Year Anniversary

Happy Anniversary!

It was 2 years ago today that Michishige Sayumi, our beloved bunny loving Morning Musume。 cutie started her blog, and with it started the translations which have eventually become the totem pole for Nantonaku as it’s own free standing website. Sayumi started with a simple post welcoming us to her blog with her vision to share with us what goes on with her every day. And now with over 5285 entries in the span of two years, we are coming into Sayumi’s third year blogging!

Congratulations to everyone involved!  The readers of translations, the translators, her fans, her commenters, and Michishige Sayumi herself, congrats of 2 years of fun and fancy!

We’ve seen things come and go as she’s grown from the days of  “My Outfit”s  and early morning Mirror shots. If you followed her blog you’ve seen her interesting timeline from wanting an iPhone to getting an iPhone to abandoning her iPhone and beyond. We look forward to seeing where Sayu will go from here and hope that she can enjoy every minute of it!

In the waves of celebrating 2 years I’d also like to personally thank everyone who has ever translated her blog for the public for all the hard work everyone’s had to endure. Sferris was one of the first do so on Hyakupa, and with him and kaiguy they started off what eventually came into my hands here at Nantonaku. So I’d like to thank them for all there hard work so far as well, we wouldn’t have gotten our own website without them (and a lot of our traffic still comes through the Hyakupa url somehow)! For the fans reading translations, whether they are here or not (if not I don’t know how you are reading this but I hope the sentiment gets through), I hope you are grateful to your translators for all the hard work they’ve invested in getting you translation content. Translation is not “easy” work, especially not for free, and in the communities that thrive on being able to bridge the gap between Japanese and English (or any other language) they are a rare breed in terms of getting consistency and quality for long periods. With that said, have you thanked your translators today? 笑

Now, with all that out of my brain, I hope you’ll keep on coming here for your Sayumi Michishige Blog translations. Whether you think of her as Sayumi Michishige or Michishige Sayumi, she is still the girl we adore and we hope that we can help other people understand what she’s thinking, one post at a time.

The question now is, how do we celebrate?? 笑

Regarding Blog Translations

A very good question came up regarding whether we at Nantonaku will be taking up Mitsui Aika’s official ameblog “aika”.

While I would love to add “aika” (and others) to the list of blogs we translate, which currently includes Michishige Sayumi’s Official Gree Blog and Niigaki Risa’s Official Oricon Star Blog, “It was happy?”, the chances of that happening are currently unfortunately low.

With the additional probability of Gakisan returning to a Q&A format in the near future, it takes a lot of time for me as one person to translate those blogs soon after they appear.  Add to that the fact that I don’t know how many actual readers I have out there that would support 3 blogs translations without any reasonable amount of traffic to them. It’s true I do these translations for fun and I enjoy doing them, but the demand of them in addition to the daily requirements to keep alive (and well fed and what not) make it hard to justify this move, especially doing it all alone.

So I leave these questions to you, my readers:

1. Do you want to see Aika’s blog translated?

2. Do you have a way to secure/increase readers (or at least confirm the number of readers I have) in order to make it valid?

3. Would you sacrifice the “timeliness” of the blogs in order to add another blog translation to the mix?

Giving me good answers might not result in those actions being taken directly, but the more perspectives I get one the matter the better justifications I can make on whatever decision I make.

N!N now has Gaki blog!

I never made a formal announcement but I’ll make it official,

Nantonaku will now be working on keeping up to date on Niigaki Risa’s blog “It was happy?…”

We will provide translations in a “barebones” style meaning we will not be adding in the emoticons occassionally used by Gaki in her entries. We will still provide the pictures and links to Gaki’s site as we do with Sayu’s blog.

Providing Gakisan continues her blogging after her graduation we will look into formatting the pages to follow how her blog is set up, with the date then the title and what not, in order to make your reading the translation feel more seamless, but for now please enjoy what we can provide.

Niigaki to Graduate

Announcement Translation by Me(Invis), at Takamaruyo.net

I’m gonna be sulking for awhile, completely unprofessional and I apologize, but I thought I’d let everyone know so they have something to blame if I mysteriously disappear for awhile. T_T

Edit: For now…I think I’ll do barebone’s translations of Gaki’s posts… we’ll see how long it’ll last though.

NantoRSS fixed!

Small Update, I was alerted our RSS feed had an error for the past week, this was due to a character Sayu had in her entry “Adorable” which I left in for authenticity that didn’t work well with the feed generator, and thus has been converted so it does work. RSS feeds should now be functioning as intended. Thank you for alerting me to the problem and enjoy!

P.S. If you haven’t already don’t forget to participate in the feedback polls two news articles back, comments are also welcome there if you have things to say!

New Frontpage!

Just a quick update, the frontpage now displays updates to everything but Blog updates, this way news, changes, and releases that aren’t blog updates won’t get drowned in Sayu’s amazing blog storms.

So everyone doesn’t panic it’s still available in the blog section ^^;

Give NantoFeedback!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a check on what you guys think, so here’s your chance, here’s a couple of polls you can answer if you would like to add the reason why PLEASE do so in the comments (and clarify which concept you are giving details to):

If Sayu stops blogging what would you like here to do?

Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai in her Graduation Commemoration song PV

with Karaoke and subtitles, stylized for your enjoyment.

As with the last project, it’s currently available at the Hello!Online tracker, and will not be provided her currently due to any risk of anything. Seems like a good watch if you like Aichan and Karaoke PVs (which I don’t know how big that audience is)

Looks like it’s on Youtube now ^_- *
